Abstract

We are at the origin of Regenacterre, a non profit helping Belgian farmers transition from conventional to regenerative agriculture. Regenacterre is now a unique structure bringing independent advice to its 60 members (and growing). We focus on today’s on-farm operations towards better agro and economic results.

Details

Knowledge exchange and independent advice

In agriculture, knowledge is key and is the core of our action with Regenacterre. We foster knowledge within the group by inviting renowned worldwide regenerative leaders as well as promoting collaboration and exchange between members. On top of this, the in-house agronomists provide fully dedicated independent advice enabling substantial input optimisation and agronomic changes towards a better integrated agriculture.

Enable member’s access to low soil disturbance machinery

One of the bottlenecks for the transition of agricultural practices is limited access to specific machinery. So Regenacterre has acquired for the use of its members, specific equipment such as direct drills, cover crop management tools and low disturbance strip-till. Members can use these for trials or full use. This is a strong enabler towards innovative practices

A picture worth 1000 words

We know that nothing is more appealing to a farmer’s eye that what he can actually observe in a neighbour’s field. We think that every farmer should give each year some energy and land for trials. We make sure that conclusive and interesting new ideas are spread and encouraged. We love to bring back ideas from around the globe and try to adapt them to our particular agro environment.

Advising Belgian farmers on regenerative agriculture
Assess and demonstrate the economic impact of regenerative practices

Along with independent advice, regenerative practices such as low soil disturbance, better input use and better diversity are great ways to enhanced the farm’s economic results. We also pool input purchases using group effect to lower prices. We put great effort in working with our members to demonstrate these enhanced results.
